Pakistan is a country in South Asia. It is the world’s sixth populous country with a dense population. The huge density of population has lead to many communicable diseases and many health issues like Malaria, Tuberculosis, Dengue Fever.

Besides this, the most common noncommunicable diseases reported in Pakistan are Cancer, Ischemic Heart Disease, Stroke, Diabetes and Hepatitis.

Pakistan does not have a large mandatory healthcare scheme. It is a perception that the public sector hospitals provide free medical facilities to the common people. Reportedly, it has around 1200 hospitals, which is very less as compared to the other countries in the east. The numbers indicate that the countries healthcare system is not sufficient enough to cater to the healthcare needs of the general population by and large.

The economy of Pakistan is dependent on industries related to semi-cottage industries largely. There is an unequal distribution of wealth. Poverty in Pakistan is historically been higher in rural areas and lower in cities. A huge folk of the population tends to fly to financially developed countries like Singapore, UAE and many try to migrate to the western countries for livelihood and work purposes as well.

Dirham, the currency of Dubai is stronger than the currency of Pakistan. 1 Dirham is equal to 38.04 Pakistani Rupee. Laborer’s, working middle-class and business class people of Pakistan population has a major attraction for Dubai. The expats contribute to about 1/3rd of Dubai’s population.

UAE has world-class healthcare centers, particularly in Dubai. Both public and private healthcare centers run in Dubai. Public hospitals too provide low cost medical facilities to the people who lack financially.Expats those who want to use the public medical facilities, have to apply for the health card from the Department of Heath and Medical Services.

It is estimated that about 1.2 million of Pakistanis live in the UAE and thus form the second largest expatriate population in the region. They constitute about 12.5% population of the country’s population.

With the huge population of expats from Pakistan residing in UAE, emergency and non-emergency health requirements arise at times and many people avail for the public healthcare services in the country .
